Towing Service Needed After Car Plunges into Canyon Lake, Arizona
Valley Express Towing Service worked together with Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) and the Department of Public Safety to recover a submerged vehicle in Canyon Lake. Anyone familiar with the road leading to Canyon Lake knows that extreme caution needs to be taken. The winding road makes even the most seasoned drivers feel uneasy.
A young driver lost control of their vehicle while driving towards the lake. Unable to stop, the driver was left helpless as her vehicle fell over a 60-foot cliff, dropping directly into the lake below! The car remained at the bottom of the lake for two weeks as the Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Public Safety coordinated the recovery.
Valley Express has longstanding working relationships with both the Department of Public Safety and the incredible team at the MSCO so it was only natural that they reached out to our towing team to help with the recovery. The MSCO’s scuba diving team dove down to the wreck armed with air lift bags. Each air lift bag can support 4000lbs! The scuba unit used three bags in order to achieve optimum weight distribution.
The underwater team slowly inflated the bags and the car made its way back up to the surface of the lake to an awaiting boat. The captain of the boat slowly towed the car back to the dock. This was a long, arduous process and took over 2 hours to complete the 5 mile journey!
The Valley Express team was waiting by the dock and immediately jumped into action once the vehicle arrived. They removed the airbags from the vehicle and, using a light duty wrecker, towed the car out of the water. It shouldn’t come as a surprise when we say that, after a 60-foot drop into a lake, the car was completely totalled! We towed it back to our secure yard where it still remains!

Valley Express received a request for towing service at Canyon Lake in Arizona. A towing service team was immediately dispatched from Valley Express Towing – Cars, Heavy Duty and Semi Tow Trucks, 661 W Broadway Rd, Mesa, AZ 85210. The towing service team arrived at Canyon Lake and assessed the situation.
A car had careened off a 60 foot cliff and fell into the lake below. The towing service team was to be on standby as the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office’s scuba unit recovered the car from the bottom of the lake. Using three air lift bags, the scuba divers were able to float the car to the surface of the lake. The towing service team waited as the MSCO slowly towed the vehicle towards the dock.
Once the car was at the dock, the towing service team backed up their light duty wrecker towards the vehicle. The towing service team securely hooked up to the vehicle. The towing service team towed the vehicle to the Valley Express yard.
